User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Timex Expedition E- instruments #T45781 review
This watch looks impressive at first. It is difficult to read time since the third hand always appears as an hour or minute hand. You must look carefully to read the correct time. Back light is low in brightness. I really wish I could purchase a replacement band, but it’s a very strange shape and Timex web site does not offer a band for this model. Thermometer is off and there is no way to adjust it. Even when my watch is removed for an hour or so the reading is +4 degrees off. I have 2 other watches with thermometer and they (casio and suunto) can be adjusted.

On the plus side it is comfortable to wear even as this is a larger than average watch.

5 Stars # T45781
Love the watch! Once you learn how to use all of these unique features it is great, not to mention that it is a great looking watch too!

5 Stars Timex–takes a licking and keeps on ticking…Only watch with tide, temp, and compass
This is the only watch with tide, temperature, and compass functions out there. It is large: it’s fatter on the wrist than 4 stacked silver dollars. Its links have screws on either side, so to adjust them you need 2 small jeweler’s screwdrivers. One to hold it in place, and the other to unscrew the link screw on the other end. This is most easily accomplished in a small hobby vise with an old rag or two for protecting it from scratches.

Back to the watch itself–it is a little tricky to get it to work, especially the compass. But, like a lot of things in life, if you read the directions AND try it yourself, it’s not impossible! I love being able to tell when tides are coming and going, let alone high and low tide indications. The compass is accurate in the right (non-electrical interference) environment. It is a smart and stylish watch that will get many positive comments. Now, as far as temparature readings go, why wouldn’t any thermometer on your wrist give a false (i.e. body temparature) reading? So, don’t fault it for that! Remember it gives you water temperature, too, which should be more accurate (REMEMBER not to touch the buttons underwater and void your warranty!) as the cooling effect will impact your skin as well.

Get it…where else can you find one that offers all this, and a $5 upgraded (5 year) warranty?

4 Stars You could say I’m basically happy with this watch….
Overall I’m pretty pleased with this watch. The clock face is big and easy to read during the day or at night. The back-light is great. I initially bought it for the back-light and Tide clock, but after I got it I found that you can’t set your watch by the tides. They vary in the times between high and low tide so it’s kind of useless to me. The temp gauge is also silly as other reviews have put it as your body temp interferes with the reading. The compass I thought was pretty cool. One thing I don’t like is that you have to reset the date “day” on short months, or it will count 31 days each month. It also don’t display the day of the week witch I have greatly relied on past watches for. So, if they put the day of the week, fixed the “day” date, removed the temp and replaced it with something else, This would be the perfect watch.

2 Stars nice looking watch, can’t adjust the band.
I cannot rate the watch itself due to the fact that my husband hasn’t been able to wear it yet. We tried to shorten the band and have not been successful yet. The directions say that it is difficult to remove the links in the bracelet band; so far we find it impossible to remove links. I guess I am going to take it to a jeweler to see if they can remove links. If this doesn’t work, I will be returning the watch. It is of no use if the band cannot be shortened to fit.
