User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars So Good I Bought Two!
Going to try and make this short and simple. I liked this watch so much, I bought two - the 3V and the 5V (Tan).

Pros:

1) Sturdy Construction

2) Large Numbers for Easy Reference

3) Big and Bulky (preference of mine - if you’re looking for a smaller watch, don’t get this one)

4) Compass, Barometer, and Altimeter all seem to work with minimal calibration issues (I’ve never had a problem with them).

5) Styling (personal preference) - this thing looks and feels tactical/outdoorsy

6) Good Bang for Buck

Cons:

1) A little on the heavy side (but I’m comparing this to a Luminox which is made of a light-weight carbon material)

2) This watch does require 4 batteries. So, when you need to replace the battery(s), don’t be shocked when the bill comes out to 40+ dollars depending on where you get them changed. My advice is to find local watch stands and see if they offer warranties that you can buy to cover your watch (some places will allow it even if you buy the watch from another retailer/online). The last time I checked, the watch kiosk at my local mall charged $35 dollars (can’t remember for how many years) for a warranty that allows for unlimited battery changes and cleaning/maintenance.

3) Can’t seem to think of anything else.

Note: Casio resin bands cannot be replaced with regular bands you find at watch stands and stores. They pin design is proprietary which means you most likely have to order from casio or a retailer who carries casio pathfinder bands. I haven’t had a problem with my bands breaking yet (2 years and counting).

hope this helps!

3 Stars Almost there but not quite…
Casio Men’s Pathfinder Triple Sensor Altimeter/Barometer/Digital Compass Watch #PAG40-3V

I got this watch because I wanted something different from what I had at the time. Because recently I’ve been outdoors a lot, having a watch with built in compass seemed like a great idea. Having barometer and altimeter on top of it was a great bonus, so I thought. My impressions of the watch are generally positive. The compass works that way it is advertised so I got what I wanted. However, the ‘extra’ bonus seems to be very problematic. Here is my advise to anyone buying it: do NOT trust the altimeter. I think that this watch would do much better without it. You might have as much luck in throwing a rock at a flying plane as with this watch getting a correct altimeter reading.

Watch works well in all modes. Instructions on how to are hard to follow until you catch on how their mode of thinking is, but well worth the effort. This watch handles all task it is designed to do well.

2 Stars nothing special
The watch comes in a plain cheap carton box, nothing to give someone as a gift already….the box doesnt look appealing at all.

The temperature reading is totally off. It has been off since I got it 2 weeks ago and now I have to figure out how to calibrate it. When it freezes outside it says it is 71 degrees F. Nice !!! I better check the compass and altitude meter !!!!!!

The watch looks ok, but I find the material used all TOO plastic….

Also the watch goes up to the year 2039 only …. so they know by then it will definitely be broken :-)

So in my opinion, this watch is nothing special !!!

2 Stars Think
The construction of the watch is not what others have said even with their war stories and adventures. I have been in some places that most would never want to be and survival is based on your intellect and who you know. The watch functions pretty well while in the box but has trouble standing up to ruff conditions (which the company claims it can). I was given the watch to use and within a few weeks the the pin (which holds the band to the watch) was ripped from the watch and in turn damage the watch so as not to be useable. This is not my definition of a tough watch. If I was to draw any conclusion from this I would say this watch is great as long as you don’t wear it while doing any physical labor. It doesn’t have to be high tech to perform well. My advice is - Dive watches do what they were designed to do and they are made for ruff conditions. Just think it through - what ever the watch is made out of would be a great indicator of what you can expect from that watch.
