The unisex Timex Midsize Black/Silver Ironman Sleek iControl Watch transmits signals seamlessly to your ipod. Simply connect the included receiver into your iPod and you can control your music in a heartbeat. Designed to work with your body and coordinate with your iPod or with your iPhone (in airplane mode), the iControl watch is sleek and comfortable to wear. This watch is compatible with iPod 5th generation (video); iPod Nano 2nd generation (aluminum) 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB; iPod 5th generation (video) 60GB and 80GB; iPod Nano 1st generation 1GB, 2GB, 4GB; and the iphone. The digital-gray dial face with its Indiglo night-light offsets the black and silver-tone bezel, and the case, which is made of durable resin, measures 41.5 millimeters. A resin band and buckle clasp ensure a steadfast fit. For further practicality, a day-date-and-month calendar is also included, and the watch can be adjusted for three time zones. Other features include a 50-lap memory, three alarms, a countdown timer, two interval timers, and a chronograph function. 3 Stars Ironman iControl band bomb
The functions of this watch are excellent. However, the band (for an Ironman, which implies hardiness) could not withstand normal use. Further, the band cannot be repaired or replaced! Renders the watch unusable. Concept great. Function poor.
Why not produce an Ironman iControl watch with replaceable bands or the ability to put a webbed/velcro band on it? Did that for years with my old one! It went down rivers taking countless beatings on rocks and the kayak gunwales! It lasted until I LOST IT.
This one, not worth your money.
5 Stars Timex Ironman with iControl
I bought this for my son as a gift as I was familiar with this product — I have one. These watches are great if you listen to an iPod, particularly if you use it working around the house or other people. You can put you iPod in a pocket but still control the volume and pause/play with the buttons on the watch. It comes in very handy if you want to pause your iPod because of some temporary outside noise (I don’t think my wife would consider that a compliment!).
The only, significant problem I’m aware of with this watch is that the band can break after a year or so, I know, it happened to me. I went to Timex’s website, contacted their customer service, they emailed me instructions, I sent them the watch and $10 and about 10 days later I got a NEW watch in the mail. They exceeded my expectation with the repair. If you look carefully at the watch you can see why a broken watch band is an issue — it is integrated into the watch.
I’d buy another if I needed to.
